Hack Club's been given a 1x1 slot on the wafer.space GF180MCU Run 3 MPW (multi-project-wafer) from DeepAI which means that we're going to create Hack Club's very own chip, for students 13 - 18 years old.
Essentially how it works is that we'll split up the core area on the chip into over 100 individual tiles, which represent one of your designs, and then multiplex them onto the IO pins. We'll be receiving 1000 of these chips alongside breakout boards and will send you each a chip/breakout board with everyones designs on them.
Getting onto the chip is really easy, but will require a bit of time and dedication:
- Design your first chip, we'll send you an IcePi Zero FPGA board to test it! Check out the submission page for more info.
- Design a second chip and we'll put your design onto the shared chip, and send it to you after it's done being fabricated at the foundry. If your design also needs a carrier board to test/function, you'll ned to design one but we'll also send you a grant to buy the PCB.
Your chip design needs to be done by the end of November because fabrication is in December, so get working and I'll be building out the platform with guides, tutorials and resources, but the clock is ticking!!!
